Botanical Box Features: We have a sustainable practice when it comes to our build! I work closely with a framer who sources wood from Michigan, Illinois and Indiana barns, to build museum grade display frames. You choose the cost point, frame size, wood frame texture (smooth or rough) and wood stain color (natural, dark mahogany, blue grey, ect) for your Botanical Box. Then choose your thread color (snow white, antique gold, cobalt blue, crimson red, or indigo). We discuss and select the landscape location to harvest seeds (favorite park, families home garden, family lake house, etc).

Seed Hunt Experience: I join you and your family or friends (up to 10 participants) at the landscape destination of your choice and we embark on a Seed Hunting adventure! We discuss seed dispersal mechanisms and practice naming seeds. This custom piece (first image, blue grey frame) was built under the direction of the Hunter family. I joined the family on an August summer morning at their lake home in Michigan. The family, mainly the children, joyfully took me on a morning walk around their property showing me their most beloved aspects of the property. We Seed Hunted together for an hour and a half gleaning from the landscape and around the nearby Wagner Lake. We harvested seeds and botanical litter-fall, named the seeds, talked about seed dispersal mechanisms with the children and created an awesome memory harvest of our time together.

Botanical Box Composition: The client mentioned she had an aerial photo of the lake that a neighbor had taken from their small airplane. I used the photo to guide my composition and seed layout. This lake is particularly interesting because it has a small island in the center of the lake. I used the woody husks of the cottonwood flower to depict the water of the lake and the snake grass, fox tail, and fountain grasses to depict the land around the lake.

Seed Hunt Experience: $150 for the whole family , neighbors and friends (up to 10 people). Includes one (recycled plastic) Seed Hunting Box for each person to keep for future Seed Hunts. Year round experiences available. I’m excellent at finding seeds summer, spring, winter and fall.

Botanical Box: Prices vary according to size of Box and wood type. In general prices start at $325 for dimensions 12in. x2.3in. x 16in. Sizes vary according to custom design, cost point and reclaimed wood size availability at the time.
